Lemons to lemonade

On our way to Victoria Station this morning the tube train we were on was delayed 20 minutes because of signal outages further up the line.  This caused us to miss our half-day double decker bus tour of London.  We were able to get rescheduled for tomorrow afternoon and decided to hoof it all over town.

We ended up seeing Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, Waterloo, Parliament & Big Ben, Westminster Abbey, the Thames River, London Eye, 10 Downing Street, Leicester Square, the National Gallery, the Mall, the Admiralty Arch, the Horse Guards, and yes, the changing of the guard.  Well, some of it anyway.

On our way back to Buckingham for the ceremony we happened to pass the area where the Guard members were being inspected prior to the parade and ceremony.  Just a little way down from them was the Palace Guard Band.  They were performing some musical pieces to warm up, including the theme songs from Hawaii 5-0 and Monty Python's Flying Circus.

In Leicester Square we got 1/2 price matinee tickets to see "Billy Elliott" at the Victoria Palace theatre.  It was an amazing show in a wonderful venue.

And...we would have missed all of this if we hadn't missed our tour this morning.
